I've written a program that uploads files via FTP to my FTP space, using an account name and password.
By default the folder the files arrive in is a folder off public_html. For example if the account name is Fred, the files will appear in the folder public_html\Fred
Is there a way of altering this so the 'Fred' folder is under public_ftp? Or at least out of the public_html folder ?
I've tried using ../Fred but this has no effect.
Jim,
When an additional FTP account is created, that user is assigned a folder which is their home, they cannot leave this folder when using their FTP account, simply for security reasons.
If you need to upload to your main webspace, then yuor main account should be used.

Andy

Thanks for the reply Andy.
What I was trying to say was, is there anyway of changing the location of the users folder that gets created.
For example the user I created's folder was public_html\Fred. I'd rather that folder wasn't accessible through a web browser by using the url mydommain.com/fred
Is there a way to do this apart from putting web security on the folder ?

Jim, I'm afraid that isn't possible, its designed that the FTP accounts should be web accessible.
I'll pass your comments onto the control panel development team, so you may see that option in a later release.

Andy
