To all at Flump.

Im not sure if you have thought about it or not but have you seen the invision board?

I like yourselves used to run the phpBB board & I know from experience how difficult it can be to mod this board.
I have recently changed over to the invision board & have added several mods to it with no problems at all. It also seems to run a lot faster than the phpBB board on the flump servers for some reason.
It even has a snazzy looking welcome panel on it that tells people when they log in how many posts have been added since their last visit.
If you havent seen it just check my profile and pop along and have a look at the IISG MASSIVE one we have up and running now. there are two files that allow you to convert the threads & posts and members from this one to the IBB one.
it is a lot nicer board.

When looking for a new board to replace the one we had before.. i did look at invasion board however, at this time it was currently in beta and I was not one to want a board with potentially security holes in it - as with most software but is generally more on a beta/1st release. PHPBB came with nothing but good reviews and it was basically a choice between phpbb and vbullitin.

We did think about it that's for sure though :)

As for the mod side of things.. there are alot of hacks out there for phpbb which cover this. The mod side i must agree though is something to be desired.

Maybe in a few releases time we may upgrade :)

Craig,

Don't let Chris try and turn you to the dark side, both him and Sony have been trying for weeks to get me to convert to Invision Board.

P.S. How is the gardening going Chris?

See Craig this is the sort of abuse I put up with all day at work, can you do me a favour and add Invision Board to your swear filter so they can't post any more it will just show up as ******** *****.

All this because me and Chris added the word "phpBB" (excuse me for swearing) to the invision board swear filter.

It you type the word "phpBB" (excuse me for swearing again) it comes up as "pooBulletinBoard".

...Jay, become a Jedi and join the l33t with Invision Board.

Listen no one said that the road to becoming a Jedi knight would be easy but phpBB is the way of the future (come on Craig back me up, im in the boxing ring on me own ere).

If you can imagine Invision Board as Luke and phpBB as Yoda then things should start to come in to perspective.

Hmm it's seems the dark side has won this battle but not the war, the Jedi force and it's army will rise again to defeat you........(if only there was a bb code for making the text scroll up like in the film and this post would be wicked, that's one for the mod teams).

Hey Jazz,

There is a member and post converter (phpBB->ibf) which I used. I had about 70 members and 1000 posts on my forum before I converted. It was easy to do and worked very well. It converted all the sections correctly too and in the correct order.
