HI David.
You can access your webmail via www.yourdomain.com/webmail/ notice the trailing slash.
This will allow you to log in and check without having to go into your control panel :)
Hope that helps..
Craig.

craig help!
I'm sure this may be out of your hands and really expensive to set up but other web hosts have it and i was wondering if you guys might look into doing it -maybe for an extra fee? free would be nice?
how about having the option for users of our sites to sign up for email accounts (web based only) - i.e like hotmail but we can host it ourselves. Everyone.net used to do this but now they charge obscene ammounts of money to do it.
any ideas? :)

I completly understand what craig has said, what I meant was- can it be automated so that users can register for an account themselves at my domain?
You can get programs to do that, everyone.net used to offer a plug in, but that costs money now.
I think you would have to know to many passwords to do what you say....

oh I see :o
what kind of passwords do you mean? would it be possible on a budget (or free?)with just a few users? eg 100?
I assume all the data for creating pop boxes on the server is stored in a database, then exim or whatever does it's stuff. You would need the user and password to the database in order to create a new entry, and make a new mail account. With this info you could also bugger the database up totaly.
Everyone.net used to have a free plug in, but now they charge about $350 or something stupid.

I see, ahh people are so concerned about security!
But I can understand that, our site is for a charity and is unlikely to be hacked or abused by malicious people.
What if the database was secured so that only certain fields could be written - I.e new ones for the entry of a new users details for a new account? and the rest would be read only - except by the administrator of the domain in the control panel?
I would have thought you are already granted low level access for changing pop boxes and stuff through the cpanel, but I don't know what database is in use or anything, I'm only a lonely mod :(

never mind!!!
all I wanted to do was ofer my users webmail @mydomain no pop3 or anything just plain and simple webmail
Don't you really need a pop box to store the mail though?

Some months ago I went through a long and painful evaluation of most of the webmail packages available on the web. I've found that Squirrelmail is by far the best one I've come across - www.squirrelmail.org - but it still requires an IMAP account for each user.
There are very few webmail programs that don't require either a POP or IMAP account. One of note, that I came across was webumake email - www.webumake.com - it uses one POP account as a drop box and then sends the mail to the appropriate webumake account.
There are loads and loads of webmail packages out there which can be installed on your website - do a search on www.hotscripts.com and www.sourceforge.org for starters.
