Hi Guys, I am looking to move hosts and have done lots of research and have narrowed down to you and one other company.

I was initially looking to go with one of the bigs boys such as rackspace but all my clients are now used to Cpanel and I am very scared of migration so looking for the following:

1. Can you provide a phone number for real emergencies. Perhaps a premium rate number. Not for support, but for emergencies.
2. Do you know httpme and can you give a service as good as them?
3. Has there been a case of emails disappearing or not arriving and will you be able to do a trace so this be required (i have had problems with emails/cpanel before with both voxtreme and httpme but i think these problems were resolved with newer cpanel versions). Email reliability is the single most important factor for me as if problems arise and are not sorted IMMEDIATELY I will lose clients and my livlihood.
4. How much is your current turnover (i know its a naughty question but you will save me £20 by not doing a credit check).
5. Can you integrate my cpanel accounts with no loss of databases/scripts all working etc from httpme? I am prepared to pay hourly for extra help in case i get stuck.
6. Most important - Where do you see Uk Dedicated in 5 years. Will my business be safe in your hands as I have a 5 year business plan and cannot afford any major distruptions, i just like to set things up, and they just "work" :)

Thanks for that

Craig

Hiya,

I'll answer your questions below..

>1. Can you provide a phone number for real emergencies. Perhaps a premium >rate number. Not for support, but for emergencies.
We are looking into providing an emergency contact number however, we have a pageadmin facility which is very effective. (I'm sure one of our dedicated customers can comment on this) Also as a dedicated customer I don't mind them having my mobile number. So if you need to get in contact with someone and the normal channels are failing, you can get in touch with me. (sure someone can comment on this too!)

>2. Do you know httpme and can you give a service as good as them?
We have been in the business now for a long time, we have used cPanel for all that time. We have a good strong team and do provide a good service. We are one of the few people to offer reseller hosting on our own network and have invested alot of money recently. As im not a client of the above, I can't really answer this question but i'm confident to say that you will be in good hands with us.

>3. Has there been a case of emails disappearing or not arriving and will you >be able to do a trace so this be required (i have had problems with >emails/cpanel before with both voxtreme and httpme but i think these >problems were resolved with newer cpanel versions). Of course when a problem arises we want this fixed ASAP this is our livlihood and if you (the customer) sufffers due to this, we then suffer. We have used cPanel for a long time now and our techs are pretty clued up to its workings.

>4. How much is your current turnover (i know its a naughty question but you >will save me £20 by not doing a credit check).
Afraid I can't really answer this one. I'm not sure what our turnover would really show. I can say that we are a profitable company.

>5. Can you integrate my cpanel accounts with no loss of databases/scripts >all working etc from httpme? I am prepared to pay hourly for extra help in >case i get stuck.
In most cases, yes we can do this for you. We would charge £50+vat/hr. It does depend on how your current host have things setup, in most cases though its fine.

>6. Most important - Where do you see Uk Dedicated in 5 years. Will my >business be safe in your hands as I have a 5 year business plan and cannot >afford any major distruptions, i just like to set things up, and they just >"work"

As said above, we have recently invested alot of money into the company and are in it for the long haul. We now operate our own network (AS-UKNOC) which we are currently migrating people over to. We are currently working on many new services and upgrades to current systems / backends. While trying to get new clients we are still working to improve services to current and try to offer more of the services they require.

If you have any further questions then please let us know,

Kind regards,

Craig

Hello Guest, whoever you may be... ;)

I can't really answer all your questions (I don't know all the answers and I don't really have time!) but what I can say is that I've been with Craig, Andy and co. for quite a few years now (how long is it exactly, Craig...??). Anyhow, we started by transferring an in-house project over and then one or two small sites, before finally transferring the lot and getting a dedicated server. Today, we have three dedicated servers with them and have never looked back.

I recommend wholeheartedly.

Good luck,

Aaron

Hi,

I'll fully agree with Aaron, we've been with UKD for two and a half years now and havent regretted it for a moment.
Regarding the paging facility Craig mentioned we've had reason to use this out-of-hours a couple of times, and in each case the issue at hand was resolved < 10 minutes (one of these pages was if I recall at about 6am on a sunday).

We currently operate servers and VPS's with several providers operating from datacentres in london and with regard to things "just working" UKD are definately at the top - With other providers it's common to see inconsistent connection speeds, maybe a minute or two of un-announced network unavailability here and there at 3am or so, but that's not the case with UKD - I don't believe there's been a moment of network-based unavailability since UKD migrated to their private network, and even before the migration they were very few and far between with up-to-date announcements posted on this forum.

I have been here for almost two years now as a reseller client, and I can endorse the comments made by Merto and Aaron. Reliability is superb, and at one point when the reseller server I was on started to get a bit sluggish, I was offered a move to a new more powerful server at no cost, and Craig also took care of moving everything for me while keeping me updated of progress on MSN Messenger.

I have been with a few hosts before I came here, and at one point seemed to be changing hosts every few months! Now I am here, I don't envisage moving again. In fact I may be moving from reseller to dedicated in the next year or so.

Craig, Andy and the team really do care about the standard of service they give, and they are keen to look after their customers. Regarding Craig's comment about his mobile number; he does mean it - he let me have it before my server move, and I'm not even a dedicated hosting client!

And on the extremely rare occasion when something does go wrong, these guys won't try to hide it - they will give an honest and accurate explanation of what happened and what has/is being done to prevent it happening again.

Paul.

I am another happy dedicated customer (2 years in August).

They are very good, and clearly know their stuff. They have always given quick response when I've contacted them (via helpdesk) but I know there's an emergency pager if I need it (and I have Craig's mobile).

Support at UKDedicated is great. They've helped lots of times(thanks Andy). We've had only one big problem when the pager didn't work but they responded to the e-mail I sent very fast so everything was fine.

Our servers uptime is 100%. We've never had network issues.

The only think which needs to be considered is the bandwidth.

You will not make a mistake if you join UKDedicated :)
