Do you guys recommend any merchant service that a shopping cart can connect with?
Cheers.

Hi there,
I'm afraid we don't. We ourselves use Worldpay.com for this. What cart are you using?
Kind regards,

Thanks for that Craig. I'll be using one of your carts once I've signed up :D
Why are Lloyds so anal about giving THEIR customers access to CardNet? I've ruled them out straightaway - for the moment anyway.
I had a look at WorldPay - almost £600 startup costs going by the online quote they gave me :/
LOL! :'( So.., I'm gonna go with PayPal for a while. ;)

It may be worth looking at Nochex too. The problem with PayPal (from your customer's point of view) is that you have to sign up and give them info like your bank details before you can buy anything. I believe Nochex will let the customer do a single card payment without all this fuss.

PayPal have simplified payments now, so signup is integrated with the payment if you are a new user - very easy.
Worth also looking at Protx (http://www.protx.com) which is only £20/month with no transaction charges. Also check out Natwest Fastpay, which allows you to take online payment (http://www.fastpay.com/html/business_m.html), although i haven't really checked it out in any real detail.
Hope this helps.
