Considering purchasing a some hosting from Flump.

We will have a lot of very important data held on the MySQL database once it is up and running. My question is what are the systems for backing up this database data (which is not held anywhere else) and how secure is the database from unauthorised access?

As this data will be covered by the Data Protection Act, it is of utmost importance that it is secure and not subject to data loss.

- We backup data daily, weekly and monthly, to a separate disk in each machine.

- Additional to this, you are able to download your backups from your cpanel whenever you wish.

- You could optionally setup a cron job to move a backup of your database off-site, should you wish.

- Using the access control section of your cpanel mySQL area, you could also allow selected hosts remote access to the database in order to back it up remotely.

As you can see, there are a lot of options available to you in this situation.
